DJ Tasha Losàn Exclusive Interview for EDMDroid Asia
1. Please tell us and our readers more about the nightlife in Australia in times of Covid, especially in your home town
In Australia we have been divided in different States with Victoria now being the most locked down city in the world, so unfortunately it's been really tough. I've been lucky in Queensland where I live on the Gold Coast. Yes we've still suffered loss of gigs, lockdowns and no dancing rules, however I've been blessed to be able to continue a lot of my gigs at rooftop bars and venues where people can still come to enjoy the music. All together though the industry has suffered immensely so we really need to band together to save it.2. How long have you been DJing and what can we expect next from DJ Tasha?
I've been DJing since 2018, however I've been working in the industry as a vocalist with DJs and producers for more than 10 years. Next up, I've got a couple of EP's coming out soon. One of them is a collaboration EP which I'm super excited to say I've worked on with my friend Taglo and the other is my first official solo EP which I've been working on with my mentor Jonny Sonic. Both different genres and both works I'm very proud of and can't wait for everyone to hear.3. What has been your best and your worst gig experience so far. Be honest please, don't hold back.
My best DJ gig up to now has been a Techno gig I played at in Brisbane, Australia at a club called Sub Rosa in November 2020. The packed crowd was loving the underground techno tracks that they heard me play and they didn't stop dancing hard the whole way through. My worst DJ gig...to be honest the only bad thing is when people haven't been allowed to dance due to co-vid restrictions and it's sad to miss out on the energy of the crowd.4. If you had to choose, which profession would you be going with? DJ or something else?
I've been working in the entertainment industry my whole life starting as a ballet and club dancer, vocalist, topline writer, actor and now DJ as well. I'm now getting more involved in music production on Ableton thanks to Jonny Sonic from 1on1 Music and I'm learning as much as I can to be able to do even more creatively. All of my experience in these areas compliment each other and my passion for the arts has never faded. Last year I also started my community for women in Electronic Music culture called Sonic Adventure Ladies where we can all easily connect worldwide. I see myself eventually using all of my skills and experience to grow my community even more and to help encourage all women that wish to be involved in this industry to get out there and go for it!5.
