After being held in Swedish jail for the past three weeks, prosecutors have now officially charged A$AP Rocky with a crime, Assault Causing Actual Bodily Harm. The charge carries with it a maximum of 2 years in prison. This is actually good news, as he won’t be charged with aggravated assault, which carries a heftier maximum sentence of six years.

Photos of the alleged victim’s alleged injuries, shown by TMZ here, apparently “formed the basis of the assault charge against A$AP Rocky. You see a bloody arm, a bloody finger, blood on the back of an arm and a streak of blood on a bicep. There’s also a gash on another body part and various cuts.”

Prosecutors have also charged two members of Rocky’s with with the same crime, and they will also be held pending trial.

According to a representative for the prosecutor who spoke to TMZ, the trial will be held within the next 2 weeks and is expected to last approximately 3 days. In Sweden, “a panel of 4 judges will hear the case, and at least 3 of them must decide an assault was committed for a conviction. If it’s a tie, the prosecutor can ask for a new trial. If Rocky is convicted, a judge will decide the sentence a week later.” Rocky will not be recommended for the full 2 year sentence if convicted, though the prosecutors remain mum on what their recommendation would be.

Back on our side of the pond, President Donald Trump is calling for Sweden to give Rocky his freedom.
