Tomorrowland’s latest lineup update has disappointed Swedish House Mafia fans.
After all signs pointed to a Swedish House Mafia appearance at the 2019 edition of Tomorrowland, a recent announcement has let down many planning to attend. The Boom, Belgium festival’s organizers have revealed that closing the main stage instead will be EDM supergroup 3 Are Legend.
3 Are Legend – comprised of Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike and Steve Aoki – also played the final main stage set of weekend one. In addition their dismay over the Swedish trio’s absence, fans have tweeted grievances over the slot not being filled by an act like Martin Garrix or Armin van Buuren – the latter of whom will play a set directly beforehand.
Although Swedish House Mafia were never officially announced as 2019 headliners, some have conflated the news as part of a pattern of recent cancellations. In addition to pulling out of Ultra Korea last month, technical difficulties apparently kept them from performing at Weekend Festival in Helsinki this past weekend.
Weekend two of Tomorrowland will run from July 26th-28th at the Schorre Recreation Area in Boom, Belgium. For more information, visit the event website.
